Words We Live By

Two hundred interviews. Twenty-six values. One dimensional portrait of the words Paly students choose to carry.

From voice to form

A public work built by asking first.

Club members interviewed more than 200 students, gathered the values that appeared most often, and translated those responses into individually designed, 3D-printed word tiles. The finished piece was unveiled on January 14, 2026.

The wall label includes Braille, low-vision text, and a text-to-speech QR component designed to help more people encounter the work. Material-conscious fabrication and a modular construction keep the system thoughtful in both meaning and making.

Project 02 / Year One

PAHS Art + Tech × SHS Art Club · 2026

Interwoven

A 6-by-6 field of Passion Windows showing how identity can remain distinct while belonging to something larger.

Drawn there. Engineered here.

Collaboration as a design system.

More than 400 students across both schools were asked about their passions. Saratoga High School Art Club turned the responses into two-dimensional icon sketches; Paly Art + Tech transformed those drawings into layered, mathematically unified 3D Passion Windows.

The work moved back and forth through questions, revisions, test prints, and material constraints. That exchange—not a single tool or author—is what gave the installation its final form.
